I called out: answer me! He did not answer. I cried out: open! He did not. The night was burning hot and dry I went to a different gate to try I called out: answer me! He did not answer. I cried out: open! He did not. The night was strangling and sedate I went to try a different gate. I whispered: answer me... He did not answer. I pleaded: open.... He did not. That morning the sun rose, but dew wouldn't fall Thus I was found by the guards of the wall. 3. Three days his memory haunted me. And on the fourth I cut the bread And on the fourth I opened the window And on the fourth I saw the sea... Three days his memory haunted me. And on the fourth I knew The sea was beautiful and blue and in the salty breeze The scent of waves But not the taste of tears. English lyrics are free translation from Hebrew by Noa

Up to the heaven she turns her eyes. Searching, diving in to the chilly blue. Floating in the air Touching the pure golden light That glimmers in her hair. Mishaela, what do you see? What is it in your heart That greets the desolate silence with such laughter? It is one rainbow in the east, she says. It is all I need. What more could I want? It is all that I need. I wish I had a son A little boy Bright, with black curly hair. I would take his hand in mine And stroll slowly, slowly Through the garden... Little boy. Uri, I'd call him My Uri! How gentle and clear this tiny name A glimmer of joy For my little boy, Uri, I'd call him Uri, I'd call. But I am still bitter as Rachel I am still praying as Hannah in Shiloh, I am still waiting for him. I will Wait. A literal translation from Hebrew by Noa

flower, colored bright i am strong i can fight but i don't know. tower, brick and stone make my way on my own but i don't know? i don't know why, i don't know how if i can fly, can i fly now? are my wings strong enough to bear the winds out there? hey, i don't know. tell me it'll never fade and i'll go forth, unafraid, cause i don't know. show me rain and flood to cool the fire in my blood cause i don't know. i don't know why, i don't know how if i can fly, can i fly now? are my wings strong enough to bear the winds out there? hey, i don't know. darkness, edge of night you are here, i'm in flight now i know, now i know now i know

Boi kala. Translation by Noa: The nearness of the sea and you Obliterates all hopes of rest Your salty breath has blown over the sea To penetrate my breast The rising of my love Is like the waves at tide... Come, my bride. In a red moon over sea Your blood is burning In a red moon I can see Our blood is turning The rising tide Will call and cry Your name, your name in yearning Come, my bride. Come, my bride... How can I close my window When the storm is near? How can I close my window When your feet are bare? How can I close my window When the ocean weeps How can I, knowing you're Awake somewhere... The owl shattered my sleep When in the night he cried, Come, my bride. if i were a desert flower all winter long i'd pain and cower spring would make me sing my voice would ring as tiny buds begin to bloom in spring i'd blossom and forget the winter's gloom. if i were a brook of water kissed by the frost along my borders spring would make me sing my voice would ring as i'd release my ice chains in spring i'd bubble and forget the winter's rains. but i am only a child of man i am only a child of man just an innocent child of man don't look so surprised as my eyes shine and glow it's the sunlight in the skies that is making me so. if i were a joyful songbird all winter long so cold and somber spring would make me sing my voice would ring like tiny bells on scarves of silk a song as beautiful and pure as mother's milk. but i am only a child of man i am only a child of man just an innocent child of man don't look so surprised as my eyes shine and glow it's the sunlight in the skies that is making me so. don't be surprised but this look in my eyes like a flower or tree i will bloom in the spring i will shed all my woes as the green grass grows like a flower or tree i will throw my head back and sing if i were a desert flower, desert flower.

Translation: Noa Protect your soul Your strength protect Protect your soul.. Protect your life Your consciousness Protect your life.. A crumbling wall, a roof on fire, a shadowed hole A stone is slung, a nails is sharpened, or a knife. Protect your soul from all that cuts, from all that burns, From what is nearest like the earth, the sky, the dust From all that pulls and silently awaits its turn, From what can kill you, fire, and wells you cannot trust! Your soul protect, your mind, your hair, be safe, I yearn! Protect your skin, Your life, your soul, Be safe, you must! A summer night without a care, A warm and lovely summer night it seems, the kind we know so well, that comes to comfort and caress, without a fear, without suspicious whisperings or words of blame… with smells of cooking in the air and with a lamp to share’s its light until we rest, until we sleep, until we rest, until we sleep… a warm and lovely summer night, or so it seems.. a summer night without suspense or haunted dreams… and now the wind it’s hand extends without a sound a window opens in the night then, suddenly… why are your laughter and your fear so strongly bound? And tell me why is it you freeze so happily? You say you’ll always be a stranger in this land and fire and water spy on you from every side… Why, like a frightened bird who flutters in a hand, So your soul is caught, distraught? you run and hide! You seek escape! You are afraid, you want to fly! You’re like a bird that’s trapped…oh, won’t you tell me why?? Protect your soul Your strength protect Protect your soul Protect your life Your consciousness Protect your life Protect your skin, your hair, the beauty of your face, Protect your heart, the goodness of your heart.. be safe!

glitter and be gay that's the part i play here i am in paris, france forced to bend my soul to a sordid role victimized by bitter, bitter circumstance alas for me, had i remained beside my lady mother my virtue had remained unstained until my maiden hand was gained by some grand duke, or other ah, 'twas not to be harsh necessity brought me to this gilded cage born to higher things here i droop my wings singing of a sorrow nothing can assuage and yet, of course, i rather like to revel, ha, ha! i have no strong objection to champagne, ha ha my wardrobe is expensive as the devil, ha ha perhaps it is ignoble to complain- enough, enough of being basely tearful i'll show my noble stuff by being bright and cheerful ha, ha, ha - pearls and ruby rings ah, how can worldly things take the place of honor lost? purchased, as they were, at such an awful cost! bracelets, lavalieres, can they dry my tears? can they blind my eyes from shame! can the brightest broach shield me from reproach? can the purest diamond purify my name? and yet, of course, these trinkets are endearing, ha ha! i'm oh so glad my sapphire is a star, ha ha. i rather like a 20 carat earring, ha ha! if i'm not pure, at least my jewels are enough, enough, i'll take that diamond necklace and show my noble stuff by being gay and reckless! ha, ha, ha!

about

This project was a true celebration. The "Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra" offered us the opportunity to participate in their special concert series titled "The Philharmonic in Jeans". We were very excited about the proposal because we always felt our music had strong classical elements that would lend themselves naturally and beautifully to a symphonic environment. Gil approached Ilan Mochiach, a fantastic musician and long time friend, who agreed to take upon himself the task of arranging a selection of our songs for orchestra and conducting. This project would never have gotten off the ground without Ilan. He did an incredible job, sensitive and tasteful and brilliant, creating a beautiful bridge between the orchestra and ourselves.
In addition to our originals, I decided to embrace some new challenges:" Shir Mishmar'', a haunting Israel classic arranged by Gil, "My Funny Valentine", and finally "Glitter and Be Gay", a crazy aria from Leonard Bernstein’s opera "Candide", that demands some serious coloratura singing. My wonderful voice teacher, Hanna HaCohen, introduced me to the song and worked on it with me with a unique mixture of patience and passion. The result was magical.
With this album we’ve come full circle, for like our first, it was recorded live, no second chance, one unforgettable night, but this time with a huge orchestra on stage and a couple of thousand people in the hall. A testimony to the wonderful road Gil and I have had the honor of travelling.
